The Mac Dynasty Memorial Site was built on the foundations of former Mac dynasty palace structures. It enshrines the tablets and statues of the five Mac emperors who established their capital in Thang Long, together with the thrones of those who continued the Mac cause. This is a place of spiritual culture and of historical education for younger generations, and a cultural and tourism highlight of Hai Phong. On display here is the Dinh Nam Dao, the weapon associated with King Mac Dang Dung's campaign to pacify the realm. Two festivals are held here each year: the spring calligraphy-opening festival on the 6th day of the first lunar month, and the memorial ceremony for Mac Thai To from the 20th to the 22nd day of the eighth lunar month.
